[edit]from VfD:
This one is probably not 100 % obvious. This entry was included here because this man founded the BBC news website. Seems a bit light for me, let's count the opinions for this possible inclusion. --French Tourist 17:18, 16 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Weak keep, just within the realms of notability. Darksun 17:30, 16 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Was he not also a BBC regional newscaster in the North in the 1980s? Keep for now. Dbiv 17:43, 16 Oct 2004 (UTC)

- Keep. Hmm, editor in chief of the most visited website in Europe for seven years, and received an OBE for it? Sounds a damn sight more notable than a Pokemon character to me. Average Earthman 19:00, 16 Oct 2004 (UTC)

- Delete. Article does not establish notability. Gamaliel 00:10, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- K It does, in that is specifically mentions the OBE. Anyone who lands one must be notable, since they are (usually) awarded for notable achievements. I would agree that starting and remaining editor-in-chief of one of the world's most-read and most-reliable news sites. I suppose we should delete Rupert Murdoch as well, I mean, he only founded News Corporation. Chris 01:08, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Sorry, running a popular website doesn't make you the equivalent of Rupert Murdoch, nor is it automatic grounds for notability in my opinion. My vote was based on an earlier version of the article which did not mention the OBE, but I'm not sure that all 9905 members of the order are notable. Gamaliel 01:52, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Show me *your* OBE, and then I'll accept that, despite being awarded for notable achievements, holders of OBE are not notable. Note the difference between "running a popular website" and being in charge of somewhere with an Alexa rank of 39. Chris 02:27, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- People are notable for their accomplishments, not their decorations. Lots of people are in charge of important things, not all of those people are notable. Gamaliel 02:53, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- You do not get an OBE unless you've done something significant. (If you are just a civil servant all your life, and have done piddly squat, but be a good civil servant who became a permanent undersecretary or somesuch, in the UK, you would only get the MBE) 132.205.95.64 02:38, 18 Oct 2004 (UTC)

- Keep. This is ridiculous. And people in charge of important things should be considered at least somewhat notable. [[User:Rhymeless|Rhymeless | (Methyl Remiss)]] 04:10, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Abstain. Too borderline for me to be sure. --Improv 05:56, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. It could use some wikifying and expansion, but it's definitely not a deletion candidate. Factitious 06:26, Oct 17, 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. Careful with those scissors, kids. —siroχo 20:00, Oct 17, 2004 (UTC)

- Keep. The BBC website in itself is notable, since its highly quoted, and together with the OBE, I can't see why its founder shouldn't be notable for founding it. [[User:MacGyverMagic|Mgm|(talk)]] 19:17, Oct 20, 2004 (UTC)
